Oregon’s first whitewater park has officially opened in Bend, Oregon – to the delight of recreationalists and environmentalists.
From the Bend Parks and Recreation site, this whitewater park aimed to improve public safety, develop recreation amenities for all skill levels, restore fish habitat and migration, and enhance and protect river health. On all accounts, it’s been a smashing success.
We have the opportunity to bring similar benefits here to Oregon City as well. With a siting opportunity near the base of Willamette Falls, we can provide whitewater access to 2.5 million Oregonians who live within a 60-mile radius.
A Willamette Falls Whitewater park will benefit our communities – providing healthy rivers for floaters, paddlers, and our fish and wildlife, while spurring tourism and economic opportunity.
